Cell phone menace

The other day i left my cell phone at home. Thought of going back to fetch it but didn't have time. So all morning I fretted and wondered if I was missing important calls and messages. I felt insecure and edgy. Would people understand if my phone went unanswered? What if the kids or parents had an emergency? My worry metre was working overtime.
In the end when i finally got home the darn thing was sitting pretty on my dressing table without a beep. No missed calls- no messages. How important did i feel? An inch high and very foolish!
The cell phone has robbed us of a lot of things. Peace of mind for one. The joys of holidays and getaways for another. If you are constantly traceable and in the radar of the whole world then what's the point of taking a holiday? When you get back there are no stories to tell, no funny incidents to relate (even spiced up) because you have already told it on the phone, at a price of course, thanks to the roaming charges. The phone stops you from missing anybody too- except physically- so the yearning to be together again and exchange notes is lost. A cell phone on a holiday is like an umbilical cord that ties you to your roots and refuses to let you be. Makes you wonder why you still swear by it?

Absolutely. I think you should try a 30-minute daily switch-off.
