Curious sunlight

It rained hailstones yesterday here- or how do you say it? It hailed yesterday?? Well, whatever, then it rained some and the weather has cooled down considerably. The apartments right opposite to my window are extending their verandah in a frenzy. It's election week here and like everybody knows anything is possible these days. Anything illegal that is. The outgoing govt is too busy to look and rather in a good mood to spoil the impression and come down too strong on law breakers. God, what mentality, huh? Well, there was a minor setback to these fly by night construction workers as the rain washed away part of the sand and stuff. God's part punishment i think. Even god is getting soft these days.

I have this wierd impression that sunlight feels different in different countries. I dont know how and where i got it but i always feel surprised when it feels just as hot or cold in other countries. Last month in Indonesia i was logically surprised when the midday sun beat down like knives on my back and burned me somewhat. I said, how come the sun is just as strong as back in India? Hah, said the sun. Taste this and see!
Nirad Choudhuri said in his book that when he first landed in London he felt everyhting was different somehow- the light, the trees, the morning, evening. I remembered that when i went to London but honestly the first thing i stepped onto at Heathrow was a wad of chewing gum and it felt just the same- nasty, sticky and totally impossible to get rid off.
