Cricket tamasha

This weekend the cricket IPL fever has been ruling. Everyone's been watching keenly. But, so far, it's hard to say if it's the cricket or the bollywood stars or worse still, the imported cheer leaders who've caught the attention. I watched bits and pieces of the first couple of matches. I found it hard to figure out who was on which side. And it really felt funny to watch Ponting and Saurabh cheering and patting each other. I wonder if Club following will pick up since we Indians are a funny lot. The national team is one thing but cheering for a club? I dont know. I've lived in Delhi most of my life but frankly i still dont feel attached to it. In fact, Shah Rukh's Kolkata Knight Riders appeals to me more than the Delhi Daredevils. I guess, it's early days yet. But i'm not complaining. Why should i, when i can watch all my favourite stars in one platform?
Heard a man complaining to his mother at the airport on Friday. Apparently she had a hearing problem and there was some miscommunication between the two. "Apni wiring to theek karale!" he said. "What to do," she replied, "I cant hear well in my left ear. Both my brothers too have this problem," she added trying to lighten the topic.
"Oh God," said the son, "poori lot-i kharaab si!"
