Slick willy

Our tour guide in Kuala Lumpur was a local Indian named Raj. He was a slick willy. Tall, dark with a pot belly pushing from under his floral shirt he took us for a ride- literally and figuratively. Instead of taking us to the Petronas Towers he took us to a spot from where we could 'see' the towers and click pictures. It's futile to add here that you can view the towers from anywhere in KL...they are after all the world's tallest structures and KL is not that big a city! We could even see it from our hotel window and it was a pretty good view at that. Especially at night, the towers would glow like jewels in the sky.
Then Raj took us to the palace and said there was no point in our getting down to have a closer look because they wouldnt let us in anyway and 'you can see just as well from the car'!! The only two places he took us with great enthusiasm were the chocoloate factory where incidentally they only sell and dont make any chocolates and the gift shop where, just to snub him, we didnt buy anything. By then i was convinced he was a cheat and i vowed i would find all those unique masks and artifacts at one tenth the price in roadside shops. Needless to say i never saw those things again and had to leave KL without them! But at least i robbed him of a commission!!
