Dont laugh at idlers

The French are the laziest people in the world. I didnt say so- an international survey did. They have a 35 hour week, take extra long lunches and chill out at pubs and coffee houses all the time. Well, before you jump to conclusions consider this: They also have maximum per capita productivity- at par with the Americans who think they work the hardest. So what does it prove? That playing hookie at work and guffawing with your coworkers during lunch doesnt mean that you are working any less. In fact, if the workers are happy they work harder. When will Indian companies understand that? Idlers like me are more productive than workaholics i see all around me. I'm getting out of here. I'm moving to France.

The law of inertia

Jerome K Jerome said ‘I like work- like to look at it for hours…’ Everybody thought he was being funny. The truth is he was just being like everything else in this universe- bone idle. And that’s not funny. It is a basic scientific fact.
Remember your school science? Something traveling in a straight line will continue to do so for ever if nothing stops it. Similarly, if something is stationary or doing nothing, it will continue to do nothing for ever until pushed into action. It is called the law of inertia and the chap who discovered it was Rene Descartes (1596-1650). What it means in plainspeak is this: we are born to be idle. Unless…yes, unless we are forced to move our butt and get into the action mode. The natural state for everything everywhere in the universe is to hang around doing exactly what you’ve always done for eternity.

Now just apply this law to people around you. Nothing moves until you give it a shove and nothing stops until you force it to.

Hence politicians will continue to be morally corrupt until forced to change by the public.
Honest and visionary people will continue to stay away from the mainstream unless compelled to come out of their inertia.
The great Indian billion populace will continue to multiply.
Wars will continue to be fought and innocents blown up.
Women will starve themselves to death until someone puts all the Barbie dolls on fire.
You would not get out of bed to go to work if someone was not paying you a fat salary and you were scared of being kicked out.
I will continue to laugh as long as Raju Srivastav is on a roll.
Get my drift?
By the way, Descartes worked mostly from his bed! There was no antidote to his inertia.

So long and thanks for the fish
